About Mathias Kiss

At the crossroads of painting, sculpture and architecture, Mathias Kiss’s art combines traditional and contemporary techniques. After training at the Compagnons du Devoir, where he worked as a glass painter on historical monuments, the Hungarian-born artist took part in numerous projects such as the Louvre, the Comédie Française and the Opéra Garnier. With this knowledge, he perfected his style and found his first sources of inspiration. Mathias Kiss then decided to break down the barriers between genres to create works that confuse. He plays with paradoxes by attempting to erase the boundaries between art and craft, in line with trends such as the Arts & Crafts movement or the Bauhaus school.
