Yet, billions of people worldwide do not have access to this. A lack of clean water has major consequences for the population. People often have to walk long distances for clean water. Sometimes so far that they drink water from nearby rivers or lakes. Besides being unfiltered, this water is heavily polluted by waste streams and by people and animals washing in it. This increases the risk of serious (often fatal) waterborne diseases, such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. In the worst cases, this even results in child mortality. Lack of access to clean water also hinders economic progress.
A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH
By collaborating with existing organizations already on site, it is possible to make a sustainable difference. The LAB FOUNDATION invests not only in water installations but also in education and awareness. Additionally, projects allocate funds for maintenance, and the local population also contributes money or labor. This creates shared responsibility and prevents people from becoming completely dependent on outside aid.
