Paints

At LAB, paint is about more than a color on the wall. It’s about the atmosphere you create, the shade that feels just right and the quality you can feel as soon as the brush touches the wall. Here you’ll find paint for every project, including wall paint, lacquer, limewash, concrete-effect paint and coatings. From our own LAB paint label, with 176 unique colors, to collections by Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Pure & Original.

Which paint do you need?

Many people choose a type of paint first, then look for a color to match. At LAB, we deliberately do things the other way around: choose the color first, then the type of paint. Every LAB color is available in all our types of paint, so you can use exactly the same shade everywhere, from walls to frames and cabinets to stairs.

The type of paint you need depends on the surface and the look you’re after. For example, choose wall paint for walls and ceilings, lacquer for wood, metal and plastic, and a coating for areas that get a lot of wear, such as a staircase or bathroom. If you’re looking for one paint for almost anything indoors, there’s all-purpose paint.

Types of paint

LAB has paint for every project and every wall. From interior paint to limewash, and from floor coatings to exterior paint. For most types of paint, you can also choose between our own LAB paint label and collections by Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Pure & Original. Here’s an overview of the main types of paint.

Wall paint

For walls and ceilings. LAB wallpaint is an extra-matte, water-based wall paint that is scrub-resistant to class 1. Matte gives a wall the calmest look. Alongside LAB wallpaint, you’ll find wall paint by Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Pure & Original. For exterior walls, there’s LAB wallpaint exterior. Explore all wall paint.

Lacquer

For wood, metal and plastic, such as doors, frames, cabinets and radiators. Choose interior paint in matte, satin (silk gloss) or semi-gloss, and exterior paint in satin or gloss. The glossier the finish, the more durable the paint. Here too, you can choose from LAB and paints by Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Pure & Original. Explore interior paint and exterior wood paint.

All-purpose paint

LAB excellence is a matte, all-purpose indoor paint: for walls and ceilings as well as window frames, doors, and radiators, in one paint and one color. Scrub-resistant, durable, and water-repellent. View all-purpose paint.

Velvet finish

LAB urban gives walls, doors, window frames, and furniture a velvety-soft, matte velvet finish with a subtle grain. Both rugged and refined, for indoors and outdoors. Discover LAB urban.

Limewash paint

For a soft, vibrant wall with less than 1% gloss. LAB chalk is 100% mineral, breathable, and solvent-free, and you apply it with a block brush, sponge, or cloth. Alongside LAB chalk, you'll find Pure & Original's limewash paint. View limewash paint.

Concrete look

This type of paint contains fine grain, giving walls a raw, vibrant concrete look. LAB cementum is extremely durable and easy to maintain. View concrete-look paint.

Coatings

For surfaces that take a lot of wear, such as a floor, staircase, or bathroom. View all coatings.

Paint by color

All LAB colors are grouped into color families, so you can quickly find the right shade.

| Color family | Mood |

| --- | --- |

| White paint | Light, spacious, and a calm foundation for everything around it |

| Beige paint | Warmer than white, subtler than a bold color |

| Brown paint | Earthy and timeless, beautiful with wood and linen |

| Shades of gray | Calm and neutral, from soft to deep |

| Black paint | Depth and character, also on a single wall or a piece of furniture |

| Green paint | Calm and a natural atmosphere, from sage to forest green |

| Blue paint | From fresh pastel to deep navy blue |

| Pink paint | Soft and warm, beautiful in bedrooms and children's rooms |

| Red paint | Warmth and character, striking as an accent |

| Yellow paint | Light and energetic, beautiful in a dark room |

| Orange paint | Warm and bold, from terracotta to rust |

| Purple paint | From soft lilac to deep aubergine |

Once the new pages from this batch are live, Off-white (softer and warmer than pure white) and Taupe paint (gray-brown and neutral, with just enough warmth) will be added.

Frequently asked questions about paint

What is the difference between wall paint and trim paint?

Wall paint is for walls and ceilings and dries to a matte finish. Trim paint is for wood, metal, and plastic, such as doors and window frames, and comes in several sheen levels.

Can I get the same color in different types of paint?

Yes. Each type of paint is available in all 176 LAB colors, as well as almost any other color. That way, you can paint your walls and cabinets in exactly the same shade.

How can I test a color before ordering?

Order a sample pot or color swatch and see the color on your own wall in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Light changes a color more than you might expect.

How much paint do I need?

It depends on the type of paint. For each coat, allow 10 m² per liter for LAB wall paint, 8 m² per liter for LAB chalk paint, and 11 m² per liter for interior paint. We recommend two coats of LAB wall paint and interior paint.

Can I get help choosing?

Yes. Book a color consultation, online or at the LAB concept store in Bussum, with one of our color consultants.
