Primers and Undercoats
USING PRIMER OR PRIMER
Primer is also called primercalled and is an important step in preparing your painting project. When you first apply a layer of primer, the paint will adhere better. And that ensures a more beautiful final result and better protection of the paintwork. You mainly use primer when painting a new, untreated surface. But also when going from a dark to a light color and the surface is difficult to adhere to.
5 REASONS TO APPLY PRIMER
- Better adhesion, especially on untreated and damaged wood, metal, and porous surfaces like plaster and concrete.
- Smoother surface: primer smooths out small imperfections. This results in a more even and beautiful final result.
- Covering stains: is the wood discolored or are there stains on a wall? With primer, you cover this up and prevent it from showing after painting.
- Better protection of the surface, for example against moisture, rust, and mold. Especially when using primer for exterior painting, you will enjoy your paint project longer.
- Neutral base: the primer provides a blank canvas so the new color really stands out.
