OUR STORY
“I don't just want to 'color' the world with paint, but also really contribute to a more beautiful world by doing more,” says LAB-founder Robert Schellekens. The love for paint and color was present in him from an early age. After his Business Studies at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Robert immediately entered the field. Initially as a project manager at a paint factory, after which he started Vestingh five years later. What began in 2010 with a store of 60 m², has now grown into a concept store in Bussum of 500 m² where only the most important paint brands such as Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Pure & Original, and Vestingh Paint are sold.
LAB PAINT
In 2018, an own paint collection was added to this impressive list of paint brands: LAB paint. A high-quality, scrub-resistant paint label in 176 unique colors, developed and produced in the Netherlands. This high-quality paint brand consists of a complete range of paint types for indoors and outdoors, including coatings for bathrooms, floors, walls, and various specials such as LAB chalk (lime paint) and LAB cementum (concrete look).
VESTINGH BECOMES LAB!
Since November 2023, you can also find the most beautiful wallpaper brands in our concept store and webshop. With the acquisition of Luxury by Nature, Robert brought the most exclusive wallpaper collection in the Netherlands in-house. Think of labels like Arte, Élitis, Cole & Son, Pierre Frey, and Ralph Lauren.
With the arrival of LAB paint and the acquisition of Luxury by Nature, the name Vestingh no longer covered the full load. Time for a rebranding! From January 2025, the name LAB will adorn the facade of the concept store and this will also be the new name under which all our activities and brands will fall. A powerful name that needs no more. “With LAB, we can completely relieve our customer: together we look for the most beautiful color, the right product, and the ideal atmosphere and, if desired, we can take you with LAB PROJECTS the painting and wallpapering out of your hands," says Robert.

PERSONAL SERVICE AND ATTENTION
In the LAB concept store, customers are inspired in the field of paint, wallpaper, color, and interior. And with a full team in the office and in the webshop in Amersfoort, everything is arranged from A to Z so that your order can be shipped as quickly as possible. "It may be a cliché, but I genuinely find personal service and attention the most important," says Robert. "Not only in our concept store but also for our online customers. Daily, our color samples and sample pots are sent to see or test the colors at home with your own eyes."

COLOR AND WALLPAPER ADVICE
Anyone who is moving or renovating will recognize it: choosing the right color, the most beautiful wallpaper, or the best paint product for your interior can be quite challenging. With a wide range of products and services, LAB is happy to help you make your home personal. For example, book an online color consultation or together in our concept store with a color and wallpaper specialist create the foundation of your interior. As an interior professional, during our DO IT LAB workshops, you gain an abundance of inspiration and knowledge about our products, and there is plenty of time for networking and sharing experiences with other professionals in the field of color and interior.

LAB FOUNDATION
At LAB, there is a lot of focus on socially responsible and sustainable entrepreneurship. We are very proud of our LAB FOUNDATION which was founded in 2018. A portion of the proceeds from each LAB purchase goes to the LAB FOUNDATION, contributing to a better world: paint at home and clean (drinking) water where needed in developing countries. "Sharing is multiplying, I truly believe that. If you put love and energy into something, you get it back in so many ways."
LAB also collaborates with social workshops where people with a distance to the labor market take on various tasks for us. For example, filling our sample pots. This way, we try to give everyone a chance to contribute to society.

At the Vestingh Atelier, you can attend creative workshops and inspiring presentations.
In addition, a LAB second life comes to the market several times a year: a limited edition LAB color that is largely made up of LAB colors. This involves cans that, for example, were not collected by customers or colors where too much or too little pigment was added due to a typo. This wall paint thus gets a second life. Double sustainable, in other words.
