SEASON 23 EPISODE 9
NEW CONSTRUCTION WITH AFRICAN WARMTH
Mirthe and Matthijs have now been living together for eleven years with their son Stijn in a spacious semi-detached house in Apeldoorn. But what was once a promising new build lacks warmth and personality.
While Matthijs is drawn to bold luxury and large African elements, Mirthe longs for soft tones, Japandi influences, and subtle references to their time in Africa, where they lived, traveled, and got married.
How does stylist Liza manage to create unity? And which LAB color will finally make this family truly feel at home in their own house? Discover it here!

From savanna to suite
Stylist Liza gives the home a complete makeover that she aptly calls 'From Savanna to Suite.' The cool, impersonal base gives way to warmth, texture, and natural luxury.
With linen, wood, rich prints, and wallpaper, she brings an African-inspired atmosphere to life. The base is calm and beige but gains depth through dark tiles, dark green wallpaper, and warm wood.
In the middle of this palette, one LAB color takes center stage: Fluffy Cheetah no. 255.

AAIBAAR SOFT
For the base color, Liza chooses Fluffy Cheetah no. 255 — a soft, almost touchable shade that immediately brings warmth and calm to the entire space. This neutral tone softens the overall look and adds a subtle, sunny glow; the accent color that brings the savannah indoors and makes the interior feel luxurious.
The color flows seamlessly over both walls and ceiling, creating a warm, cohesive whole. It forms the ideal foundation for the rest of the transformation.

WILD PRINTS
Combining colors is not done only with paint, but just as well with wallpaper. In this home, one neutral LAB base color is chosen, while the tension and accents come from the wallpaper. Liza uses two types of wallpaper: a subtle, textured variant for calm, and an accent wallpaper in a deep dark green shade for character and contrast.

FROM WEAK TO POWERFUL
Mirthe and Matthijs's kitchen is functional but lacked warmth and character. Here too, Fluffy Cheetah no. 255 forms the soft, warm base. The shade combines beautifully with the accent of the dark tiles. The cabinets get a dark wood wrap, giving the kitchen a rich, almost boutique-like appearance. This creates a space that is not only practical but now also seamlessly matches the warm palette of the rest of the home.
