Description
1838 Wallcoverings Palmette
Palmette | Natural
This beautiful wallpaper featuring tropical flora and lush greenery is exquisitely adapted from an original carpet design in the V&A archives in South Kensington. The richly textured, thick ink layer and beautiful hand-painted effect characteristic of surface printing make it the perfect medium for recreating the richness and artistry of the highly patterned original. Surface printing, a heritage technique developed in 1838 and still practiced today at our factory in Lancashire, gives the wallpaper an extra dimension of character and depth. Softer and more soothing in appearance, the pattern takes on a completely different look in Natural, with layers of soft, chalky inks in warm, natural shades. Available in 5 colours: Forest, Blue Hue, Clay brown, Sage and Natural. Archival inspiration for Palmette: design for a carpet, George W. Kingman (1846-94), Kidderminster, Worcestershire, circa 1870. Created by textile designer George Kingman in Kidderminster, a historic centre of British carpet production, this pattern embodies a rich tradition dating back to the 1730s. Kingman's work, characterised by rich colours, intricate patterns and an eclectic mix of inspiration from history, art and nature, still resonates in contemporary design and makes for a dynamic celebration of maximalism.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Application
This depends on the dimensions of your wall and the type of wallpaper (for example, with or without pattern repeat). Use our wallpaper calculator or contact us for help calculating the right amount.
For most wallpaper projects, we recommend Arte Clear Pro wallpaper adhesive. This glue is high quality and suitable for various types of wallpaper. Always check the specifications of your wallpaper to see if this adhesive is suitable. Unsure? Contact us, and we will be happy to advise you.
For the best result, we recommend making the wall as smooth as possible before applying the wallpaper. If the texture is too rough, it may remain visible through the wallpaper.
To remove wallpaper, you can use a wallpaper steamer or wet the wallpaper with water and a splash of dish soap. Let it soak for a while, then carefully scrape the wallpaper off the wall. Non-woven wallpaper is often easier to remove when dry.
This depends on the type of wallpaper. Many types of wallpaper can be lightly wiped off with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Always check the product information for specific maintenance advice.
