1838 Wallcoverings Charlotte

Charlotte | Teal

This charming design captures the button-like blooms of chrysanthemums and spotlights the remarkable artist Charlotte Horne Spiers, after whom the wallpaper is named. The charming watercolour look has been recreated with digital printing, with beautifully tonal flowers cascading down the wall, almost as if their delicate fragrance could fill the room. A fresh interpretation of the classic blue-green shade Teal, with delicate flower heads in white and green. Available in 4 colours: Primrose, Teal, Blush and Apricot. Archive inspiration Charlotte: design for a wallpaper, Charlotte Horne Spiers (1844-1914), England, late 19th century. Inspired by a watercolour from the V&A Prints and Drawings collection, artist Charlotte Horne Spiers began her career at the Minton studio in Kensington Gore; her designs included textiles, wallpaper and ceramics. To turn this watercolour floral motif into a contemporary wallpaper, each petal, stem and leaf had to be carefully outlined and separated from the background, so the pattern could be recoloured in 4 beautiful colour combinations.
