The depicted stems and flower heads of a yarrow, or perhaps the locally abundant marsh milk thistle, are distinctly Art Nouveau in style. This pattern, which was originally only a border design and the fragment of which is preserved at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk, has been completely transformed in scale. The solid colors are typical of a screen-printed design.
